The BMW i4 and iX keep home charging refreshingly simple: both accept 11 kW (about 48 amps) through a J1772 port, so a 48-amp Level 2 charger is an exact match - no under- or over-buying to think about. The i4 runs an ~81 kWh battery; the larger iX carries around 105 kWh.
How long it takes and what it costs

The charger to use
Because both cars accept the full 11 kW, a 48-amp charger gives them their fastest home speed with nothing left on the table - a rare case where the common recommendation lines up exactly with the car. A 40-amp plug-in unit is only slightly slower. Add a NACS-to-J1772 adapter to use Tesla-style chargers.
