The Charge Curve

Editorial Policy

Editorial Policy

The standards we hold ourselves to, so you can hold us to them.

Independence

The Charge Curve is funded entirely by affiliate commissions (see the affiliate disclosure). No manufacturer or retailer can pay for a review, a ranking, a score, or coverage. We accept no free product, no sponsored posts, and no paid placements. Because commissions only work if readers trust us, our incentive is to recommend the right product once - not the one that pays most.

How we select and rank products

We choose products that are real, currently sold, and relevant to a home charger buyer, then rank them against a consistent, published rubric - see the methodology. Rankings reflect the evidence (specs, safety listings, cost math, aggregated owner sentiment), not commission rates. When a cheaper product is the better buy, it ranks above a pricier one, and you will find plenty of examples of that across the site. Every product also gets a "don't buy this if" note, because honest guidance means naming who should not buy something.

Accuracy, prices, and no fabrication

  • Prices are live.Every price is pulled from Amazon's API and dated; if it is more than 48 hours old it disappears rather than going stale. We never type a price into an article.
  • Specs are sourced.Amperage, kW, connectors, and certifications come from the manufacturer's listing and documentation. If we cannot verify a figure, we say "data unavailable" rather than guess.
  • No invented reviews. We do not fabricate testimonials, star ratings, review counts, or owner quotes. We do not claim hands-on testing we did not do.

Author and expertise

Our content is written by an enthusiast, framed honestly as such - never as a licensed electrician, engineer, or credentialed expert. We compete on a transparent, reproducible method rather than borrowed authority. Anything involving your electrical panel or wiring is presented as standard practice to confirm with a licensed professional and local code.

Corrections

We fix errors promptly. If you find a factual mistake or a price we missed, tell us on the contact page; we aim to correct genuine errors within 48 hours. For significant corrections that change a recommendation, we update the article and its "last updated" date. We do not silently alter the substance of a review to suit a commercial interest.

Updates and freshness

The charging landscape changes - new hardware, price moves, and standards shifts like the NACS transition. We re-verify picks and specs periodically and when a meaningful change warrants it, and we date each article to reflect real revisions rather than cosmetic touch-ups.
